Kinesiology Taping Course – Fascia Technique (quadriceps)

This week on Vivomed’s Kinesiology Taping Course blog we will look at the Fascia Technique applied to the quadriceps to help improve function.

The main principle of the fascia technique is to create a gentle re-positioning of the fascia to improve function.

In this case the tape is applied with a gentle stretch of between 25% and 50%.Fascia Technique quadriceps. Levotape Kinesiology Tape

With this technique the tissue (and the base) is drawn towards the tail.

Having completed the appropriate assessment make a choice of application.

The fascia technique will be demonstrated on the lower body using the following application – quadriceps to improve function.

  • In this technique, the aim is to hold the fascia in a desired position or to restrict the movement of fascia into an unwanted position.
  • Manual myo-fascial technique may be used to position the fascia as required.
  • Measure and cut an appropriate Y strip
  • Apply the base without tension, above or below the gathered tissue
  • Apply 25% tension to the tape in the desired direction
  • Activate tape
