Vivomed is an official supplier to the British & Irish Lions have been keeping a close eye on the 2017 tour to New Zealand.

Supplying all the medical equipment for a 6-week excursion into the back yard of the back to back Rugby World Cup champions was always going to be a challenge, but one that Vivomed stepped up to – for the third time.

As the tour has progressed it has been fascinating to watch the amount of product such as Vivolight (Tearable Elastic Adhesive Bandage) used for thigh taping or Vivotape P Zinc Oxide Tape (the brown tape) the squad goes through for both preparation and game days.

The tour started with some provincial club games, it has been fascinating to watch how performances have improved and the squad has come together and grown in the face of both the adversity of defeat and adulation of victory.

Luckily, serious Injuries appear to have been minimal to date which is test amount to the professionalism of both the training, preparation and contribution of the medical team. In addition to this, products such as Lightplast Pro Tearable Elastic Adhesive Bandage and Vivomed Rugby Lineout Lifting Kit are designed to provide support to the area’s applied and thus aid performance and limit injury.

The tour is now gathering pace as the climax approaches with 2 tests remaining against the New Zealand All Blacks. Although the British & Irish Lions faced defeat in Eden Park in the first test, they will have gained confidence in their ability to stretch and test the world champions as well as scoring one of the finest try’s ever seen in world rugby.

The second test against the All Blacks on Saturday 1st July 2017 could prove to be a pivotal moment of the tour as the Lions fight to keep the series alive while New Zealand aim to clinch the win with back to back victories. The Vivomed team, along with the rest of the world will watch with anticipation and hope that the British & Irish Lions can make history and get the victory in Wellington!
